OTIS: Raising Mom’s Awareness. Reducing Baby’s Risk.

The Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS) is a nonprofit organization made up of providers of teratology information services throughout the U.S. The group has a number of registries and research programs. OTIS is currently a partner along with the Amercian Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology and the Slone Epidemiology Center of Boston University in the Vaccines and Medications in Pregnancy Surveillance System (VAMPSS), a nationwide effort to evaluate the safety of vaccines and medications used during pregnancy. Current specific VAMPSS surveillance projects include seasonal flu vaccine, H1N1 vaccine,  influenza antiviral medications, and asthma medications during pregnancy. Between one and three phone interviews during pregnancy, one phone interview after delivery and release of medical records relating to pregnancy. Patient information is kept confidential.
