Congratulations! In May 2014, Connecticut passed a law that permits schools to maintain and stock epinephrine in case of an emergency. The law, Public Act 14-176, can be read at: http://www.cga.ct.gov/2014/ACT/PA/2014PA-00176-R00HB-05521-PA.htm . The law will go into effect on July 1, 2014.
However, our job is not done yet. Each law or regulation must be implemented or put into action by a board or an agency.
The agency or board will then issue administrative rules, guidelines or best practices explaining in detail how it intends to put the law into effect and what a mother, father, caregiver, physician, pharmacist or school nurse must do to comply with the law.
AANMA is an active resource in these states assisting administrators in a seamless roll-out of the stock-epinephrine laws.
