Maryland has a law in place for using epinephrine in emergency situations.
A law which requires local boards of education to create policies regarding the availability and use of auto-injectable epinephrine act relating to emergency anaphylaxis medications in schools
Congratulations! Your state has passed stock-epinephrine laws or regulations that permit an emergency supply of epinephrine auto-injectors to be used in a school. However, our job is not done yet. Each law or regulation must be implemented or put into action by a board or an agency.
The agency or board will then issue administrative rules, guidelines or best practices explaining in detail how it intends to put the law into effect and what a mother, father, caregiver, physician, pharmacist or school nurse must do to comply with the law. AANMA is an active resource in these states assisting administrators in a seamless rollout of the stock-epinephrine laws.

Dr. Eghrari-Sabet shared how she “Uses the Media to Save Lives” and address the need for anaphylaxis awareness and preparedness during the 2013 USAnaphylaxis Summit in Washington, DC on October 5, 2013. In addition to her presentation, Dr. Eghrari-Sabet was an active participant in the summit.
Dr. Shier delivered a presentation to 300 Montgomery County School Nurses and Health Aides as part of their annual 2012-2013 back to school program. Nurses and health aides increased their understanding about anaphylaxis and improved their ability to administer an epinephrine auto-injector trainer.
Dr. Shier planned and participated in the allergy section of the 2013 Montgomery County Public School Back-to-School Health Fair held on Saturday, August. 24, 2013. Approximately 5,000 parents and students attended. AANMA provided anaphylaxis guides and E3 materials.
